BIRMINGHAM continued their brilliant run of form with a 60-32 thumping of ambitious Berwick at Perry Barr on Sunday.

Skipper Jason Lyons was at his brilliant best with a maximum 14+1 score - and both Richard Sweetman and Chris Kerr were unbeaten by an opposing rider.

But the BRC Roofing Brummies had to recover from a worrying start when the border club took advantage of some Birmingham misfortune and even after Heat 6 it was a close contest.

But Graham Drury's men came good later on in difficult conditions and secured maximum Premier League points. They ended the meeting with three successive 5-1 maximums to hit the 60-point barrier.

Said Lyons: "I'm delighted with my own form but obviously it was tough for some of the guys out there. I feel really pleased with the way things are going and hopefully we can carry this on for a while longer!"

Birmingham face Sheffield in a Knockout Cup tie at Perry Barr on Wednesday (7.30).

BIRMINGHAM: Jason Lyons 14+1, Richard Sweetman 13+2, Chris Kerr 10+2, Justin Sedgmen 9+3, Aaron Summers 9, Steve Johnston 4+2, Jake Anderson 1.

BERWICK: Michal Makovsky 10+1, Anders Andersen 6+3, Adrian Rymel 6, Craig Branney 5, Paul Clews 4, Jade Mudgway 1, Lee Complin r/r.
