BIRMINGHAM kept up their perfect Premier Trophy record with a stunning 60-32 win at Stoke on Saturday.

Skipper Jason Lyons was back to his best for the BRC Roofing Brummies with a brilliant 14+1 maximum score - but it was a solid all-round team performance.

Graham Drury's men were never in danger at Loomer Road from the moment they took the lead as Birmingham had strength in every department.

Teenage rider Tom Perry, who is an early season discovery by newcomers Dudley Heathens, was handed his senior racing debut after only two meetings of competitive racing in place of the injured Jake Anderson.

Stoke nominated both Hynek Stichauer – the former Wolves man – and Taylor Poole for tactical rides but they failed to halt the Brummies surge towards a convincing win on a sunny night at Loomer Road.

Birmingham open their home Premier League campaign with a tough test against Newcastle on Wednesday.

STOKE: Hynek Stichauer 9, Klaus Jakobsen 7, James Holder 4+2, Taylor Poole 4, Gary Havelock 4, Ricky Wells 4, Michal Rajkowski 0.

BIRMINGHAM: Jason Lyons 14+1, Aaron Summers 10+1, Richard Sweetman 10, Chris Kerr 9+1, Steve Johnston 8+4, Justin Sedgmen 8, Tom Perry 1.
