REACTION - BRUMMIES 31 SHEFFIELD 59

Tuesday August 05, 2025
PACO Castagna described Birmingham’s display against Sheffield on Monday as ‘embarrassing all night long’.

The Curtis Sport Brummies suffered their heaviest home defeat of the campaign, beaten 59-31 at the hands of play-off bound Sheffield.

Birmingham won just two of the 15 races and Castagna admits collectively they just simply weren’t good enough from the off.

“I think we were pretty much embarrassing all night long,” Castagna said.

“We just couldn’t start, we couldn’t gate and fair play to them for finding good set-ups and riding the track better than us.

“I feel like the track was a bit different than normal again; many of us have already complained about it and hopefully it’s going to be a little bit better.

“It’s just a shame because we know we don’t have much time left and we want to finish on a high - it was just one of those nights I guess.”

The penultimate Perry Barr meeting takes place next Monday (August 11, 7.30pm) when King’s Lynn are the visitors.

BIRMINGHAM 31: Tobiasz Musielak 7+1, Keynan Rew 7, Matej Zagar 6, Ben Barker 3+2, Paco Castagna 3+1, Jonas Jeppesen 3, Sam Hagon 2.
SHEFFIELD 59: Josh Pickering 14, Jack Holder 12, Leon Flint 12, Chris Holder 7+1, Nick Morris 6+3, Anders Rowe 6+2, William Cairns 2+1.
Sheffield win the aggregate point.
