It was a fifth straight defeat in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership for the Curtis Sport Brummies despite getting off to a bright enough start.
An eventful opener saw the visitors gate on a 5-1 before Tobiasz Musielak and Paco Castagna worked their way past World Championship chaser Brady Kurtz by the end of the first lap.
But the Aussie was handed third on the final lap with Castagna slowing down out of the fourth bend of lap three.
The Brummies responded with two 4-2s of their own though to move ahead. First, Rising Star Sam Hagon made the most of a re-run in Heat Two to make a great gate to hit the front with Ben Barker getting the better of Jake Mulford before Keynan Rew flew away in Heat Three with Jonas Jeppesen having to work overtime to produce a good pass around Jaimon Lidsey for third.
Matej Zagar got the better of GP star Dan Bewley in the first shared race in Heat Four before Belle Vue restored their four point lead with a 5-1 in Heat Five.
The next two races were shared - and that looked the way that Heat Eight was going also. But the mechanical gremlins struck for Hagon on lap three whilst in third as the visitors were handed another 4-2 to go four up.
Heats Nine and Ten did result in further 3-3s before the damaging results came in Heats 11 and 12 as Belle Vue recorded back-to-back maximums - the second of which saw Musielak finish third when brought in as a tactical substitute.
The Pole responded to to lead a 4-2 in Heat 13 and the Brummies’ only 5-1 of the night in Heat 15 alongside Rew, but with former Brummie Zach Cook taking the chequered flag in Heat 14, the result was already mathematically confirmed with a race to spare.
The Brummies are back on home shale next Monday (August 4, 7.30pm) when Sheffield are the latest team to travel to Perry Barr.
