BRUMMIES 33 SHEFFIELD 57

Monday June 16, 2025
BIRMINGHAM were unable to back-up their recent home win over Belle Vue as they crashed to a heavy 57-33 defeat at the hands of Sheffield.

The Curtis Sport Brummies arrived back on Perry Barr shale, hopeful they could continue where they left off against the defending ROWE Motor Oil Premiership champions a fortnight ago.

But from the off, the hosts were outgated by the opposition and struggled throughout with just four race winners telling its own story.

Yet another sluggish start in front of the Perry Barr faithful saw them slip 10-2 behind with two races gone.

But Tobiasz Musielak and Matej Zagar then led successive shared heats before a 5-1 from Keynan Rew and Musielak in Heat Five saw them halve the deficit.

But it was the South Yorkshire side who would claim the next eight races, with six of those being heat advantages as the visitors coasted to victory on a bitterly disappointing night for the Brummies.

The next action at Perry Barr takes place next Monday (June 23, 7.30pm) when the Birmingham Ductair Bulls face Plymouth in the National Development trophy.

For the Brummies, they head to Oxford a week on Thursday (June 26, 7.30pm) for a basement battle before hosting King’s Lynn on Monday, June 30 (7.30pm).
