The Curtis Sport Brummies suffered another slow start and were unable to turn things around against the Witches - despite threatening a potential fightback either side of the interval.
They found themselves 9-3 down after the first two races but capitalised on mechanical issues for both Emil Sayfutdinov and then Tom Brennan in Heats Three and Four with successive 4-2s bringing them back to within two points.
But the visitors responded with two 5-1s in the next three races to open up an eight point lead.
That gap looked set to be widened even further as the Witches again sat on a maximum in the eighth, but their luck was out for a third time when former Brummie Adam Ellis packed up whilst leading out front.
That 3-3 was followed by another shared race in the ninth before Tobiasz Musielak made it back-to-back race wins as he and Paco Castagna combined for a 4-2 in Heat Ten.
Musielak’s resurgence prompted team manager Chris Adams to use his skipper as a Tactical Substitute alongside Matej Zagar in Heat 11 - and it worked to perfection as the pair outgated Ellis and Danny King to move back within two.
Keynan Rew and Jason Edwards conceded a 4-2 in Heat 12 though and whilst Musielak again took the chequered flag in Heat 13, this time Zagar couldn’t trouble the scorers.
And the meeting was decided in the penultimate race when Rew fell whilst chasing King for the lead before Musielak rounded off his night with a fifth straight win on a night where he lacked the support from heat-leader Michael Jepsen Jensen who quit over the weekend.
The Brummies are back at Perry Barr next Monday (May 26, 7.30pm) with King’s Lynn the visitors.
