PREVIEW: IPSWICH v BRUMMIES

Wednesday April 23, 2025
BIRMINGHAM favourite Danyon Hume will be back in the club’s colours for one night only when they travel to face his old side Ipswich on Thursday (April 24, 7.30pm).

The 28-year-old, who was a part of the Brummies’ squad when they won the National League in 2016, was released by Premiership outfit Sheffield on Tuesday - and he’ll now guest for Matej Zagar, who is still awaiting his permanent Visa to come through, with the club allowed to select from riders up to 75 per cent of the Slovenian’s average.

Former Witches rider Keynan Rew has also recovered from food poisoning and is able to take his place against his ex-employers.

Pre-season title favourites Ipswich have made a blistering start to the campaign, winning all four of their ROWE Motor Oil Premiership meetings so far, including a victory at Perry Barr, and have racked up 209 match points in the process.

Curtis Sport Brummies’ team manager Chris Adams knows the size of the task awaiting his side and hopes his riders can go to Foxhall and show what they’re capable of.

“It’s going to be a hard meeting we know that,” Adams said.

“But the lads are looking forward to it and all I can ask from them is that they dig deep right from the start and do their best.

“Matej will be a big miss, and that situation is very frustrating, but we’ll just go there, try and take it to them and see what we can do.”

For any supporters not making the trip to Suffolk, the fixture is being streamed live on BSN with passes available to buy via: https://watch.britishspeedway.co.uk
