PREVIEW: BRUMMIES v LEICESTER

Sunday March 23, 2025
BIRMINGHAM get their 2025 campaign underway with the home tie of their Premiership Knockout Cup clash against Leicester on Monday (March 24, 7.30pm).

It’s the first fixture for the new-look Curtis Sport Brummies who have signed a competitive looking septet over the winter.

They are led by Polish star Tobiasz Musielak who is backed up by former Slovenian Grand Prix sensation Matej Zagar.

Experienced Dane Michael Jepsen Jensen is also returning to British Speedway as part of a heat-leader trio whilst there are also high hopes for ever-improving racers Keynan Rew and Antti Vuolas.

Jonas Jeppesen is another rider back in UK racing looking to kick on whilst Rising Star Jason Edwards is also confident of continuing his progression in the top-flight.

Leicester finished runners-up in last year’s ROWE Motor Oil Premiership and have only made two changes over the winter.

And therefore team manager Chris Adams is expecting a tight cup tie with the return in the East Midlands on Thursday (March 27, 7.30pm).

“I think it’s going to be a really good contest over the two legs on aggregate,” Adams said.

“Leicester are looking strong on paper again and we’re going into this season with the expectation that we’re better placed to win more speedway meetings.

“The lads got on great at press and practice last week, they were all having a laugh with one another but at the same time, they were all ultra-focussed.

“We’ll see how they bed in on Monday but hopefully we can put ourselves in a decent position ahead of the second leg.

There are also nine second half races scheduled to follow the main event.
