FORMER Birmingham co-owner Peter Mason has sadly passed away at the age of 74 following illness.
Peter, alongside son David, took over the Brummies ahead of the 2018 season and remained in charge until they sold the club to a consortium led by current CEO Nigel Tolley at the end of 2021.
After an injury-ravaged first season, Peter was a big part of the reason the club returned to professional league racing, moving up into the Championship in 2019.
Peter’s financial backing helped Birmingham overcome several hurdles, including equipment damage caused by vandals and tricky crowd restrictions following Covid-19, during what would be their final season in 2021.
Our thoughts are with Peter’s son David and the rest of the Mason family at this very sad time
