| | SKIPPER Freddie Lindgren scored a stunning 15 point maximum to help Birmingham round off their season in style with their first away win of the year at Ipswich.
The Swedish superstar inspired the Curtis Sport Brummies as they beat the play-off bound Witches 46-44 - their second success in 72 hours having previously gone three months without victory!
Three of the first four races were shared with Zach Cook and guest Antti Vuolas on the receiving end of a 5-1 in Heat Three to see the hosts open up an early four point lead.
But Lindgren and Cook made the gate in Heat Five to get a maximum of their own to draw back level.
Despite the best battling efforts of Tom Brennan, the Brummies conceded a 4-2 in Heat Six before Cook took the flag in a shared Heat Seven.
But Ipswich pulled six ahead with reserve pairing Leon Flint and Michael Palm Toft missing out in Heat Eight.
Flint got the better of home captain Danny King for third in Heat Nine though whilst Brennan led a 4-2 before a shared Heat Ten.
Lindgren and Brennan combined for a strong first corner in Heat 11 to level the scores once again - something they replicated again in Heat 13 to nip ahead by two after an Ipswich 4-2 in between.
Many thought the pendulum had swung back in the Witches’ favour when they themselves moved back in front with a maximum in the penultimate race.
But Lindgren and Brennan again stepped up to the plate superbly for their third 5-1 in five races to snatch victory at the death.
IPSWICH 44: Troy Batchelor 9+2, Scott Nicholls 8+1, Keynan Rew 8+1, Dan Thompson 8+1, Danny King 7, Jordan Jenkins 4+1, Emil Sayfutdinov R/R. BIRMINGHAM 46: Freddie Lindgren 15, Tom Brennan 14+3, Zach Cook 9+1, Michael Palm Toft 5+1, Leon Flint 3+1, Antti Vuolas 0, Piotr Pawlicki R/R. Birmingham win the aggregate point 93-87.
