THURSDAY PREVIEW: IPSWICH v BRUMMIES

Wednesday August 28, 2024
BIRMINGHAM travel to Ipswich on Thursday (August 29. 7.30pm) for their final league fixture of the season.

The Curtis Sport Brummies head to Foxhall on something of a high having picked up their first win in three months against the Witches at Perry Barr on Monday – meaning they lead on aggregate 47-43.

And CEO Nigel Tolley is hoping his side can build on previous Suffolk showings to see them round off their ROWE Motor Oil Premiership campaign on a plus note.

“Monday night was very much needed and you could tell what it meant to everyone involved,” he said.

“The last couple of months haven’t been easy at all and to end that unwanted losing sequence was a massive relief.

“Now, what better way to go out this year than by ending with a double win?

“We’ve given Ipswich plenty to think about the other two times we’ve been there already this year, particularly in the first half of meetings.

“So hopefully we can use the positives from Monday to help us go there and attack them in a similar way from the off – and hopefully finish it off in the second half of the meeting as well.”

Birmingham remain without Wiktor Lampart under the seven day illness rule – despite him scoring 14 out of 15 in Torun’s Under-24 Ekstraliga tie in Poland on Tuesday. Belle Vue’s Finnish favourite Antti Vuolas comes in.

Meanwhile, Rider Replacement will again operate for fellow Polish absentee Piotr Pawlicki.

Ipswich use Scott Nicholls and Troy Batchelor as guests with R/R in place for Emil Sayfutdinov.

Elsewhere for the Witches, Keynan Rew, who pulled out of Monday’s fixture at Perry Barr still feeling the effects of a recent crash, returns at reserve having also recovered quickly to win four of his rides in Poland on Tuesday.

IPSWICH: Scott Nicholls, Dan Thompson, Danny King, Troy Batchelor, Emil Sayfutdinov R/R, Keynan Rew, Jordan Jenkins.
BIRMINGHAM: Freddie Lindgren, Piotr Pawlicki R/R, Antti Vuolas, Zach Cook, Tom Brennan, Michael Palm Toft, Leon Flint.
