JACK WANTS MORE AGAINST PIRATES

Tuesday August 31, 2021
IN-FORM Jack Thomas is hoping to continue his free scoring when Poole visit Birmingham on Wednesday in the biggest meeting of the Perry Barr season (7.30).

Thomas returned to his former home track Kent on Monday with an impressive 11-point haul in a 50-40 defeat.

And he's vowed to keep up that form in the remaining meetings of the season.

"It's always good to go back to a former club and score some points. Kent is a cool little track and one I always enjoy riding," he said.

"I'm starting to score a few points now and the confidence is coming back. Winning races is always tough but when you do it's amazing what it can do.

"We have come up short at Kent but I can take plenty of positives from the meeting in to the rest of the season now."

Poole arrive in fine form and have put themselves in contention for the league title in their first season at Championship level.

They include former British Champions Rory Schlein and Danny King, one of the Championship's top performers in Steve Worrall and new signing Benjamin Basso from Denmark.

Thomas is encouraged by the improving track conditions at Perry Barr which is improving the spectator experience.

"John Priest is making the track better week by week," he said. "It's giving us a better platform and things are improving at Birmingham, so we're looking forward to the rest of the season."

Once again the club are offering the opportunity for fans to visit the pits to meet the riders and also watch from racing from the centregreen which is a unique experience.
