BIRMINGHAM are facing up to their biggest meeting in recent years as the future of the club hang in the balance on Wednesday (7.30).

Kent Kings, including former Grand Prix stars Scott Nicholls and Troy Batchelor, visit Perry Barr for what has been described as a ‘make-or-break’ meeting.

Brummies owners Peter and David Mason have suffered heavy financial losses in the meetings staged so far this season with an alarming dip in attendance levels in comparison to 2019.

Boss Laurence Rogers revealed: “We’ve lost a lot of the older generation because of the restrictions which were in place when we started the season and we need them back.

“We also now need to see an upturn in the numbers of younger people coming to the sport and to that end we can confirm free admission for children 11 and under.

“The owners are facing up to a really difficult decision, the last thing they want to do is close the club but the losses cannot continue.

“Kent have a very attractive side now they have signed Troy Batchelor and when you put him alongside Scott we’re sure to be in for some great racing.

“Speedway can be such a great night out, particularly for all the family, plus it’s a friendly night out and we want to see a great turnout to prove to the owners that speedway is wanted in Birmingham.”

Birmingham are looking to bounce back from a weekend defeat at Leicester which saw the Lions in rampant form.

There will be an opportunity for youngsters to play games during the interval, pit tours are also available, there will be an opportunity to meet the riders and to watch racing from the centregreen.
