FORMER Birmingham Elite League racer Bjarne Pedersen returns to Perry Barr with Plymouth on Wednesday (7.30).

Pedersen was the headline signing for the club nine years ago for their third season in the top division and is now in his final season before hanging up his racing gloves.

A former Grand Prix and World Cup winner, he has impressed on his return to British racing this year and is sure to challenge the leading Brummies riders.

Boss Laurence Rogers wants his side to build on the solid all-round team effort of last week when they beat Redcar.

He said: “It was so good to have everyone back together with Erik Riss returning from injury.

“What was really pleasing last Wednesday was the contribution by every rider and we’ll be looking for more of the same.

“Valentin Grobauer , back from injury, impressed and will only get better. Ashley Morris was more like his old self having gone back to basics with his engine and his win over Charles Wright in Heat 5 showed he was back to his best and paid 10 was what we know he is capable of.

“James Shanes produced some breathtaking passes in several of his rides which I am sure the fans loved .

“Erik looked like he never been away and he and Paco Castagna, back amongst the points with some fast rides, lost out in heat 7 to Jake Allen when trying to team ride and keep him out but he produced a fence scraping pass.

“I’ll be hoping for more of that against Plymouth because we want to provide entertainment for the fans at the same time as trying to win.”

Plymouth have major doubts over triple World Champion Jason Crump who has suffered two heavy falls in recent weeks and has been struggling with rib injuries.

Following the 15 heats there will be a Development League fixture between the Birimingham Bulls and Eastbourne Seagulls.

Fans are also reminded cash admission is now available on the night and with all food and bar facilities open at the stadium no food or drink can be taken into the stadium.
