BRUMMIES gave league leaders King's Lynn a real scare with a 49-44 defeat at the Norfolk Arena.
Manuel Hauzinger withdrew after an awkward fall in his opening ride but is not seriously hurt - and this put extra pressure on the reserves.
Simon Lambert was a late replacement for the unavailable Lee Smart at reserve and put in a terrific performance with 10+3, but top scorer for the Brummies once again was inspirational skipper Jason Lyons with 16 - including a maximum six-point return from a tactical ride.
Edinmburgh's win over Rye House means the Brummies are still in a play-off spot - with just two meetings to go in ther race for the top four.
KING'S LYNN: Tomas Topinka 14+1, Daniel Nermark 14, Chris Mills 8+2, Trevor Harding 5, James Brundle 4, Paul Lee 3+1, Benji Compton 1. BIRMINGHAM: Jason Lyons 16, Simon Lambert 10+3, Henning Bager 9+1, Chris Schramm 5+2, Ben Powell 4+1, Manuel Hauzinger 0, Emiliano Sanchez R/R.
