TERRIFIC Brummies secured their second away win of the campaign with a comprehensive victory at Graham Drury's former club Workington.

Drury returned to Derwent Park, where he spent the last two seasons, without injured skipper Brent Werner - but his other six riders all rose to the occasion.

After two early 4-2s, Brummies made a decisive move with three 5-1s in four races in Heats 5, 7 and 8 - with ex-Comet Aidan Collins sharing in two of them.

Workington tried to respond with the outstanding James Wright winning a tactical ride in Heat 10, but Jason Lyons and Lee Smart combined over Kenneth Hansen two races later to secure the points.

The win also gives Brummies the aggregate point and they now have a real chance of qualifying from the Midland section of the Premier Trophy - with two big matches to come against King's Lynn early next month.

WORKINGTON: James Wright 16+1, Kauko Nieminen 6, Craig Branney 5+2, Kenneth Hansen 5, Charles Wright 3+1, Jamie Robertson 3, Mattia Carpanese 2.

BRUMMIES: Ulrich Ostergaard 11+2, Emiliano Sanchez 11+2, Jason Lyons 11, Lee Smart 7+3, Ben Powell 7+1, Aidan Collins 6+1, Brent Werner r/r.
