BIRMINGHAM completed a fabulous weekend double of away wins with an emphatic 10-point victory at Newport.

The BRC Roofing Brummies followed up from Saturday's sensational showing at Rye House by dominating proceedings at the Hayley Stadium, taking all four Premier League points in the process.

Richard Sweetman and reserve Jay Herne both gave stand-out displays, Sweetman romping to four straight race wins before being denied a deserved maximum in Heat 15.

And Herne, who is now in the best form of his career, won three heats on his way to an impressive 11-point total.

With Jason Lyons also taking the flag three times and Rusty Harrison enjoying an impressive meeting too, the Brummies had too much strength for the struggling home side.

The scores were level after six races, but the visitors then took control, starting with
a 5-1 from Herne and Harrison in Heat 8 - and a battling third place from Ludvig Lindgren ahead of Leigh Lanham in Heat 10 extended the lead to eight points.

Herne and Lindgren then took maximum points over Chris Kerr in Heat 12 to make the score 42-30 - and although the Wasps gained big points from the next race after Lyons fell, Lanham and tactical ride Paul Fry finished in the wrong order so a potential 8-1 became a 7-1.

But all that turned out to be largely academic when Sweetman dominated Heat 14 to make sure of victory, with Herne completing a terrific display in third place.

And with a 3-3 required to ensure all four Premier League points, Brummies achieved a little more than that with a 4-2, Lyons leading home Lanham with Sweetman third.

NEWPORT 41: Chris Kerr 11+1, Leigh Lanham 9, Paul Fry 8+2, James Holder 7+1, Jordan Frampton 5, Marek Mroz 1+1, Jonas Andersson 0.

BRUMMIES 51: Richard Sweetman 13, Jay Herne 11, Jason Lyons 9, Rusty Harrison 8+2, Ludvig Lindgren 6+2, Chris Neath 4, Lee Smart 0.
