BIRMINGHAM'S season appears to have finally taken off - with all seven riders contributing to an emphatic win over Scunthorpe at Perry Barr.

The Scorpions' Premier Trophy success at the same venue earlier in the campaign seemed a distant memory as the BRC Roofing Brummies set about racking up their biggest score of the season.

And after an early setback when skipper Jason Lyons dropped a chain in Heat 1, it was virtually one-way traffic in the Brummies' favour.

The visitors had their No.1 rider Magnus Karlsson in fine form, but the Brummies took full advantage in the majority of the races in which the Swede was not taking part.

The spectacular Ludvig Lindgren secured his best home score so far, and Robert Ksiezak was also a much happier man after winning three races on his way to a paid-eleven score.

Highlight of the night, though, was Karlsson's first defeat in nine outings at Perry Barr this season, as it came with both Tomasz Piszcz and Lyons passing him in thrilling fashion in Heat 13.

Karlsson took some revenge with victory over Piszcz in Heat 15 but by then the Brummies' three points were already safely assured thanks to a terrific all-round effort.

BIRMINGHAM: Tomasz Piszcz 13, Robert Ksiezak 10+1, Ludvig Lindgren 10+1, Manuel Hauzinger 7, Richard Sweetman 6+2, Jason Lyons 6+1, James Cockle 5+2.

SCUNTHORPE: Magnus Karlsson 16, Carl Wilkinson 8, Jerran Hart 4+1, David Howe 4, Simon Lambert 3+1, Viktor Bergstrom 3, Byron Bekker 0.
