BIRMINGHAM pulled off a much needed 50-40 Premier Trophy Speedway win over Rye House on Wednesday night.

Skipper Jason Lyons was at his brilliant best to inspire the home side with a full 15-point maximum and he had good support from his colleagues as they secured all three points on offer.

The BRC Roofing Brummies had to recover from a poor start and it was Lyons who teamed up with Richard Sweetman for a vital 5-1 in Heat 6 to get them back in the meeting.

Two more maximums followed in the next three races to turn the meeting in Birmingham’s favour and they refused to let it slip from there.

A big crowd enjoyed the standard of entertainment and when Ludvig Lindgren secured his first win in Birmingham colours in Heat 12 they were home and dry.

Lyons was unstoppable – he worked hard with a stunning move to go from third to first in Heat 10 – and it was appropriate that he had the last word in Heat 15.

BIRMINGHAM: Jason Lyons 15, Tomasz Piszcz 9+1, Ludvig Lindgren 7+1, Robert Ksiezak 7, Ben Taylor 5+2, Richard Sweetman 4+1, Marek Mroz 3+2.

RYE HOUSE: Stuart Robson 9+1, Robert Mear 8+2, Linus Sundstrom 7, Luke Bowen 5+2, Joe Haines 5, Tommy Allen 4, Andrew Silver 2.
