THE Brummies injury jinx struck again following a dramatic night’s action at Sheffield’s Owlerton Stadium.

Birmingham pulled off a cracking 44-40 win on Yorkshire shale, but sadly the night will be remembered for a horrific crash in heat 15.

Canadian star Kyle Legault came off worse in the crash and was taken to the Northern General Hospital for further examination on the leg he injured earlier in the season. Sheffield skipper Andre Compton suffered bad bruising in the spill and is now also a doubt for Sunday’s return fixture at Perry Barr.

It marred what was otherwise a thrilling encounter. The lead changed hands several times in the opening stages and there was nothing separating the two teams as they remained deadlocked after nine races.

Back came the Brummies again to go two-points in front following a Jason Lyons and Legault 4-2 in heat 10, and in heat 13 Tomas Piszcz and Craig Watson put the Midland side on the brink of victory with another four-points. Legault maintained the four-point gap with a tapes-to-flag win in the penultimate race, but then came all the carnage of heat 15.

In the last heat decider, Ben Wilson locked up in front of Compton and Legault on the third bend causing all three riders to hit the Owlerton fence with some force.

With the safety fence badly damaged and the time curfew approaching the meeting was abandoned, but the result will stand with the Brummies taking the three Premier League points.
