EX-BRUMMIES WIN IT FOR SCUNNY

Friday July 25, 2008
BIRMINGHAM were denied a shot at a last gasp win in their 49-44 defeat at Scunthorpe.

Skipper Jason Lyons was reliable once again and he had solid support from Craig Watson and rookie teenager Jack Roberts.

Lyons was nominated for double points in Heat 10 when the Perry Barr side were 10-points down and he duly delivered the goods "“ only for Smart to trail in last and Drury's boys were 35-28 down.

Kyle Legault was impressive in winning the next race after a break in racing and Birmingham had a glimmer of hope as they moved within five-points of the home side.

But the meeting went according to the script when former Brummies Ben Powell and Emiliano Sanchez "“ both stars of the relaunch season last year "“ won it for Scunthorpe in the penultimate race with a hard fought maximum 5-1 over Roberts and guest Josh Grajczonek.

Lyons and Craig Watson had the last word with a consolation 5-1 for Birmingham to round off an entertaining night of action.
