BRUMMIES 40 EDINBURGH 51

BIRMINGHAM boss Graham Drury admitted it was simply 'one of those nights' when his side went down 51-40 to title hopefuls Edinburgh at Perry Barr.

Skipper Jason Lyons started well but faded in his 12-point haul and reserve James Birkinshaw was good value for 10+1 - but Edinburgh were by far the better all-round side after adapting well to tricky conditions caused by a downpour just before the start.

Drury said: "I always said I thought Edinburgh were a serious threat and I've been proved right.

"It was a disappointing performance, but the first one of this nature since we had all our injuries and it was just one of those nights. I know people will start asking questions about replacing the injured riders and it's something I will continue looking at over the next few days."

BIRMINGHAM: Jason Lyons 12, James Birkinshaw 10+1, Krzysztof Stojanowski 9+1, Chris Mills 5, Craig Watson 4+1, Lee Smethills 0, Adam Roynon r/r.
EDINBURGH: Ryan Fisher 12+1, William Lawson 10+1, Derek Sneddon 8, Thomas H Jonasson 7+1, Matthew Wethers 5+2, Andrew Tully 5+2, Aaron Summers 4+1.
