STEFAN Nielsen is the third rider on his way back to Birmingham - and he becomes an official asset of the club.
The Curtis Sport Brummies have purchased his contract from Swindon via the British Speedway Promoters' Ltd and he will now line up for the Perry Barr side for a second straight season.
The former double British Under-21 Champion enjoyed a steady maiden campaign with Birmingham this year having made the switch from Champions Poole.
His season was curtailed following a crash against his former employers in the Second City in July though.
But team boss Laurence Rogers says the Danish born Brit more than deserves another team spot with the Brummies.
"I think we saw enough from Stefan to justify bringing him back and I'm sure all Birmingham supporters would agree," Rogers said.
"He'll start next season on a starting average of 4.82 and if people think back to his performances this year then they'll know he's a better rider than that figure.
"He rode really well in that No.2 position and was a consistent performer, particularly at Perry Barr.
"Stefan often teamed up for a 5-1 with our No.1 and he was really settled in at home just before he got injured.
"I'd like to see more from him away from home this season and that's an aim of Stefan's as well.
"But when you consider he had a lot going on elsewhere last season as well, I think we can expect to see even more from him in 2023.
"He's feeling good, he's feeling refreshed and we're not only delighted to have him back in the team for next year, but also as a club asset as well which is key for future plans."
Nielsen joins Justin Sedgmen and James Pearson on the Curtis Sport Brummies' team sheet - whilst talks with a brand new No.1 are now at an advanced stage.
