HEAT-LEADER Justin Sedgmen has sealed his return to Birmingham.

The Aussie came in part way through 2022 as a replacement for former British Champion Adam Ellis and produced a whole host of impressive individual displays.

His debut saw him beaten just once as he inspired the Curtis Sport Brummies’ to their only away win of the season at Oxford in May.

And he went on to score a total of 122 league points from 13 fixtures.

Team manager Laurence Rogers is thrilled to have ‘The Sedghammer’ back on board and is predicting another solid Championship campaign for the 30-year-old.

“Getting Sedgy back to Birmingham was one of our priorities,” Rogers said.

“He led by example more often than not after coming into the team in May and he scored some big, important points for the Brummies.

“When we announced him as Adam’s replacement, there were a few people out there who doubted him.

“But he proved any doubters wrong, he stepped up to the plate superbly and he was a credit to himself and the club throughout his second spell with the Brummies in 2022.

“Sedgy is an experienced rider now, particularly in the Championship, and we’re confident he’ll be hitting those double figure scores regularly once again in 2023.”

Sedgmen is the second signing confirmed for next season with Aussie teenager James Pearson also earning a return.
