"˜LITTLE P RETURNS'

Monday November 21, 2022
BIRMINGHAM have named young Aussie James Pearson as their first team member for 2023.

The 17-year-old has been handed another opportunity with the Curtis Sport Brummies having made his British Speedway debut with the club this year.

Pearson certainly had the backing of the Birmingham supporters as he demonstrated glimpses of his potential along the way.

And team manager Laurence Rogers says the club simply had to stick with the teenager.

"We would've been daft to let him go," Rogers said.

"2022 was always going to be a big learning experience for "˜Little P' and speaking to him, he learnt so much during his first year of league racing in the UK.

"Birmingham fans saw at Perry Barr what he is capable of and now it's all about stringing it all together.

"He's comfortable and confident around our track and he'll be going into all of the away meetings next year knowing what to expect at each venue.

"We're glad to have "˜Little P' back at Birmingham; he's a good little rider, he's a really nice kid and we're looking forward to seeing how he kicks on next year."

Birmingham are continuing to hold talks with several other riders and are hopeful of naming a second team member later this week.
