BIRMINGHAM Speedway have verbally agreed a stadium lease at Perry Barr for 2023.

It's another big boost for the Curtis Sport Brummies who have already declared their intentions to race in next year's Championship to the British Speedway Promoters' Ltd.

Consortium leader Nigel Tolley had, however, pointed out that there were a 'small number of uncertainties' - one of the biggest being that regarding the lease of the second city venue.

So it's another huge step to officially seeing the Brummies back on track for what is already shaping up to be an exciting 2023 campaign.

“There’s already lots going on behind the scenes, there really is," Tolley said.

"It’s all dropping into place, it’s all piecing together for next season and it’s all looking really good and really positive.

"Our biggest worry was if we would even be offered a lease or not.

“I sent an e-mail to our stadium contact at the Arena Racing Company, the people in charge of the Perry Barr Stadium, and within half an hour she rang me back, we had a good chat and verbally, we’ve now got an agreement for a lease for next season.

“We’ve still got to have a bit more of an in-depth chat about some of the finer points of the lease - but a lease is verbally in place and that is a massively important step."

Birmingham will proudly host the 2022 Tolley Badges British Under-21 Final next Wednesday (August 31, 7.15) starring some of the country's top youngsters - admission details will be announced over the coming weekend.
