BIRMINGHAM have been dealt yet another blow with the news that reserve James Shanes' season has been ended prematurely through injury.

The Perry Barr favourite crashed during a grasstrack meeting in Holland on Saturday and has sustained a broken arm and rib injuries.

Curtis Sport Brummies team manager Laurence Rogers said: "Shanesie doesn't have much luck does he?

"It's only a couple of years since his season ended early after a big crash on the grass and now it's happened again.

"He's having his arm operated on on Sunday but that's his season done unfortunately.

"Naturally we send him our best wishes and wish him a speedy recovery.

"I'm already working on guests for our meetings against Oxford this week and we'll have to take a look and see what happens after that."

Brummies head to Oxford in the Championship Jubilee League on Tuesday (July 19, 7.30) before hosting the Cheetahs at Perry Barr on Wednesday (July 20, 7.30) as they look to build on last week's biggest win of the season over Plymouth.
