| | BIRMINGHAM boss Laurence Rogers insists their rivalry with Redcar is in the past ahead of their Good Friday (April 15, 7.30) clash on Teesside.
The Perry Barr outfit were involved in some heated meetings with the Bears in 2021 which caused plenty of friction between both camps.
And while Rogers understands that some supporters will be even more desperate to get one over Redcar because of that, he just wants his Curtis Sport Brummies to battle hard and register their first league points of the campaign.
"You're right, we did have some pretty tasty meetings last year," Rogers said.
"We had a couple of big track debates at Perry Barr where nobody on either side saw eye-to-eye or agreed with one another and we had quite a couple of entertaining clashes up at their place as well.
"We lost by a couple of points in the cup and we managed to get a league point later in the year despite some controversial refereeing decisions going Redcar's way.
"I think there was a new rivalry formed last season and while it will never be forgotten by some I'm sure, this is a new year now.
"Redcar have built a very solid looking side - but so have we.
"They've got some good riders in their team and they had Erik (Riss) back off us; he's started particularly well and hopefully he takes it easy on us.
"But after the disappointment of having our big meeting against Poole called off at Perry Barr on Wednesday, this is a quick opportunity for us to focus on moving forward and get some points on the board.
"It won't be easy, no away meeting in the Championship is, but if we can keep it tight in the first half of the meeting, then our confidence will build and we'll have every chance of getting something from it."
The Curtis Sport Brummies will be without James Shanes who is sidelined having suffered concussion in a grasstrack meeting last weekend. Rider replacement will operate with Josh Auty, Ashley Morris, Stefan Nielsen and James Pearson eligible to cover his rides.
REDCAR: Charles Wright, Adam Roynon, Lewis Kerr, Kasper Andersen, Erik Riss, Jason Edwards, Jordan Jenkins.
BIRMINGHAM: Claus Vissing, James Shanes R/R, Josh Auty, Ashley Morris, Adam Ellis, Stefan Nielsen, James Pearson.
