ONE LAST PLAY-OFF PUSH

Friday September 24, 2021
BIRMINGHAM will make one last effort to reach the Championship play-offs at Glasgow tonight.

They head to Scotland needing a draw to claim the two points needed to overhaul Scunthorpe and move into the top six.

Their task has been made harder with the absence of Valentin Grobauer and Paco Castagna who are away in their national championships "“ British Under-19 Champion Drew Kemp steps in at reserve and Connor Coles replaces Grobauer.

Boss Laurence Rogers said: "The boys can take a lot from their last few performances as a team.

"We've shown signs of what we can actually do when everybody kind of clicks on the same night and it's built up the confidence.

"Even though Newcastle were bottom of the Championship, we expected a tougher meeting on Wednesday.

"They had former Brummies in Ben Barker, Leon Flint and Adam Roynon in their line-up and we knew we couldn't expect to roll them over.

"But the Brummies were on it again and everybody contributed to another impressive win and another impressive team performance.

"It means it's all going down to the wire and it's going to be a nervy night for sure.

"The boys will go there with determination and hope the Scottish air inspires them like it did at Edinburgh recently.

"A draw or a win is what we need and let's be honest not many people at all will fancy us doing that at Glasgow, especially when they're still chasing that second spot themselves.

"But you can never write anybody off in Speedway and we will give it absolutely everything."
