BIRMINGHAM make the short trip to Championship leaders Leicester on Saturday (7.30).

The new-look Edwards Plumbing Brummies kickstarted their season on Wednesday with a win over Edinburgh in their first home league fixture.

But the challenge that awaits on Saturday will prove much tougher with Lions the in-form team in British Speedway.

They’ve lost just one of their last nine fixtures in all competitions and Birmingham skipper James Shanes insists that means his side have got nothing to lose at the Paul Chapman and Sons Arena.
“Most people from the outside will probably expect Leicester to beat us and that’s fine by me,” Shanes said.
“We know they’re a good team but our new-look team has gelled instantly and we shouldn’t be taken lightly.
“We showed against Edinburgh that this group of riders we’ve now got can ride well as a team.
“We also demonstrated some good team riding on Wednesday as well so if we can make some good starts and do that again, then we can certainly give Leicester something to think about and we’ve got nothing to lose.”

Brummies will operate rider replacement for Zach Wajtknecht who is competing in the World Under-21 Championship Qualifier in Germany.

Following a discount agreement between both clubs, 2019 Birmingham Season Ticket Holders can gain admission for £11 upon production of their season ticket on Saturday.

BIRMINGHAM: Adam Ellis, James Shanes, Zach Wajtknecht R/R, Ashley Morris, Ulrich Ostergaard, Paco Castagna, Nathan Stoneman.
