BIRMINGHAM host a special three-team tournament in their final home fixture of the season at Perry Barr on Wednesday (7.30).

The Edwards Plumbing Brummies renew rivalries in the ‘West Midlands Threes’ as they take on Heathens and Wolves Select sides.

There’ll also be a special moment following the conclusion of the meeting when injured skipper Mitchell Davey makes an emotional return to the track - just five months after sustaining horrific, serious injuries which included a punctured lung as well as a broken shoulder blade, vertebrae and ribs.

“I’m both excited and nervous if I’m being honest,” Davey said.

“It’s going to be a test to see how everything feels more than anything but it’s took a lot of rest and a lot of patience just to get to this point and while I didn’t think it would be the case at one point, being able to get some laps in at the back end of this season is great going forward.

“It’s going to be good to get back and see all the supporters again and it should also be a good meeting for everyone to watch as well as it’s a really good line-up they’ve managed to put together.”

Brummies include 2018 team members James Shanes and Leon Flint alongside Kent Youngster Anders Rowe and talented teen Dan Gilkes.

The Heathens Select are led by wonderkid Drew Kemp with Ben Morley stepping in at short notice for Kyle Bickley who is now unavailable. 2017 racer Joe Lawlor is also included while Brummies reserve Josh Embleton completes their line-up.

Wolves Select are led by former British Under-19 Champion Max Clegg as well as Tom Perry who won the National League with Birmingham in 2015 and 2016. Their quartet is completed by Dan Greenwood and Sheldon Davies who have both represented the Brummies this season.

There will be a special autograph session between 6.15 and 6.45 with Mitchell Davey, Tom Bacon, Danyon Hume and Callum Walker, all of whom raced for the Brummies this year before injuries cut their season short, as well as Layne Cupitt who quit the sport due to personal reasons.

The pits will also be open to supporters until 6.55 with photo opportunities available with the competing riders.

Admission is £13 adults, concessions and students £12, juniors (12-16) £3, with Children 11 and Under being admitted FREE of charge. Supporters should note that season tickets are NOT valid, but holders can receive £1 off their programme price if they bring it with them.
