TEENAGE ace Leon Flint has declared himself fit to ride in Sunday’s final league meeting at Buxton (3pm) - and wants to go out with a bang.

The 15-year-old escaped two heavy crashes at Mildenhall last weekend without any broken bones, despite being withdrawn from that clash with pain in his foot.

But Flint has told club bosses he’s good to go as he looks to add one final big score at the end of an impressive year for the rising star.

He top scored with 15+1 when the Edwards Plumbing Brummies romped to victory in the National Trophy in July.

And that was just one of many highlights for Flint who has enjoyed a stunning maiden campaign.

“I’m pretty pleased with how my first proper season has gone to be honest,” Flint said modestly.

“The main thing about this year was about learning new things and making some good progress and overall I think I’ve done that.

“It’s been a great year with Birmingham though, even with all of the bad luck we’ve had as a team.

“It goes without saying that we’ve been the unluckiest team in the league, if not in the country this year.

“It just makes it a little harder to take because if we’d still got the same team we had earlier in the year, this is where we’d be buzzing for it now.

“When you look at the run we were on, the teams we were beating and how we were all riding, you can see why people were tipping us as possible winners this year.

“But it just wasn’t meant to be unfortunately and sometimes that’s Speedway.

“I want to finish the season on a high though so hopefully I can have a good meeting at Buxton.”

Flint will also represent the Brummies in their season finale at Perry Barr on Wednesday (October 17, 7.30) where they take on Wolves and Heathens Select sides in a special three-team tournament.
