BOSS Laurence Rogers wants his Birmingham side to end Mildenhall’s stunning run of form when they head to Suffolk on Sunday (3pm).

The Fen Tigers are tipped to complete a clean sweep of honours in British Speedway’s third tier this year and find themselves on a 20 meeting winning streak.

Sunday’s clash is one of two outstanding compulsory fixtures which must be completed by the Edwards Plumbing Brummies despite the play-off deadline having passed but Rogers insists the winning mentality will remain until the very end of the year.

“In some respects people may say there’s nothing riding on this meeting, but from our point of view there’s still plenty to ride for,” Rogers said.

“Yes it’s a shame this meeting was postponed twice for different reasons last month as this was the fixture that could have seen us secure a top four finish, but we’re still going to Mildenhall for the win.

“Fair play to them because they’ve assembled a really strong side this year and once all our injuries struck, they then overtook as the team to beat in the National League.

“The run they’ve been on deserves a lot of credit – but we’d love to bring that to an end if we could.

“They may have more important meetings ahead of them over the coming weeks but trust me, they’ll still be wanting to win this one to extend their streak and keep their momentum going.

“We’re going to have four of our riders in the team which is great considering our injury crisis and it would be a good achievement if we could go there and topple them.”

Leon Flint is set to ride despite suffering from tissue damage in his knee while Nathan Stoneman and Nick Laurence step in as guests.
