BIRMINGHAM welcome Championship leaders Peterborough to Perry Barr on Wednesday for an exciting Inter-League Challenge fixture (7.30).

Bosses from both clubs have been working overtime behind the scenes and have compiled two attractive, six-man line-ups.

Birmingham will now include 2015 title winner Adam Ellis with 2017 Australian Champion Sam Masters also in the line-up alongside his Wolverhampton team-mate Ashley Morris. Current Brummie James Shanes will skipper the side with former British Under-19 Champion Jason Garrity and all-action Austrian Dany Gappmaier completing the home line-up.

Peterborough include four former Brummies in Ben Barker, Paul Starke, Ulrich Ostergaard and Simon Lambert with experienced campaigner David Howe and exciting Australian talent Jordan Stewart making up the Panthers side.

Co-promoter David Mason reckons the fixture will go down to the wire on what he anticipates will be a night of 'top drawer' racing in the second city.

Said Mason: "Our thanks go to Laurence (Rogers - Birmingham team manager) and Ged Rathbone of Peterborough (promoter) for the lengths they have gone to in compiling two very competitive teams.

"Since we first made the announcement about this fixture, both sides have been hit with numerous injuries and other fixtures have been added to the calendar.

"Chris Harris was set to ride for Birmingham but he is now unavailable due to his hectic schedule with Glasgow.

"We are delighted Adam Ellis has agreed to step in at such short notice; he's a popular figure at Perry Barr and it will be great for the Birmingham fans to see just how far he has come since winning the league with the Brummies three years ago.

"When you look at the two teams on paper, it really is so tough to call.

"They're full of quality, they're full of entertainers and I think we're in for a stunning spectacle, a night of top drawer racing and a real tight contest.

"As we've gone on record as saying previously, this is a big night for us a promotion and the turnout and response that this fixture gets will certainly influence our way of thinking when we sit down at the end of the season and start looking ahead to 2019."

There will be an autograph session with Ellis, Shanes, Barker and Starke in the Lower Main Grandstand Bar between 6.15 and 6.45 and there will also be interval entertainment for junior supporters as well as a collection for Brummies captain and Peterborough reserve Tom Bacon who suffered a burst fracture of his L2 vertebrae over the weekend.

Our friends from Birmingham Monarchs Cycle Speedway Club will be doing demonstration laps before the meeting and during the interval, and the second half will feature demonstration races using Formula 2 machinery.

Gates open at 6.15 with admission prices at £16 adults, concessions and students (ID must be provided), £5.00 juniors (11-16) and just £1 for children aged 10 and under.

Souvenir programmes will be available for £3.00 with concessions and Birmingham Speedway Season Ticket Holders (season ticket must be shown) entitled to £1.00 off.
