BIRMINGHAM bosses have called for supporters to turn out in force for tonight’s (Wednesday) derby with Cradley at Perry Barr – after being dealt a late double blow.

Callum Walker has been ruled out with a sickness bug while heat-leader Leon Flint sustained a fractured wrist in a spill at the No Limits training camp at Glasgow on Tuesday.

Rider replacement will operate for Walker while Eastbourne’s teenage sensation Tom Brennan will stand in for Flint in the National Trophy Group decider.

Edwards Plumbing Brummies team boss Laurence Rogers said: “We couldn’t believe it when we heard Leon had crashed yesterday.

“So we waited until he’d been to hospital and late last night he found out he’d fractured his wrist.

“That meant we’d got to run rider replacement anyway but then Callum got in touch with us first thing this morning and he’d been up all night with a sickness bug!

“So David (Mason – co-owner) and I quickly got our minds together and we’d like to thank Eastbourne for their cooperation in allowing us to use Tom Brennan as a guest.

“Tom is a rider who is developing at a tremendous pace and he was great entertainment wise when he visited Perry Barr in June, scoring nine points in the process.

“We can’t believe how much bad luck we’re having this season but it never rains, it pours!

“We urge our supporters to turn out in big numbers and give the boys as much encouragement and support as they can as it is going to be a real tough meeting for us tonight.”

All-action star James Shanes will be available for autographs and pictures between 6.15 and 6.45 in the lower main grandstand bar while a track walk with some of the competing riders will take place around 6.50.

There will be interval entertainment once again for attending junior supporters and the club will also be holding their annual Speedway Riders’ Benevolent Fund collection.

The main action will be followed by an Inter-League Challenge between the Birmingham Ductair Electrics Bulls and the Reading Racers.
Admission is £13 adults, £12 concessions, £3 juniors (12-16) while kids 11 and under go FREE.
