BIRMINGHAM will celebrate their 90th Anniversary during next Wednesday’s mouthwatering home clash with Mildenhall (July 18, 7.30).

90 years ago today (July 12) the first ever meeting was staged at Perry Barr and new owners David and Peter Mason are keen to commemorate the occasion at the first opportunity.

David Mason said: “The history of any club is important, but in our short time at the club we have already learned just how much the history of Birmingham means to the supporters.

“They’ve got so many memories, both good and bad, but when you talk to them you soon see how much the good times outweigh the rest.

“Not only have we got an important National League clash against pre-season favourites Mildenhall, but we’ve also got so much more going on.

“We’re going to have some Vintage Bike demonstration races and that will be great for our older generation of supporters as it will bring some of those memories flooding back for them.

“We’ve also already spoken to a number of former Birmingham riders and management members who are going to come along and enjoy the occasion with us.

“But we want as many former riders there as we possibly can. So we’re sending an open invitation to any ex-Brummie who has ridden for the club. If they want to come along and be a part of the celebrations next Wednesday, e-mail laurencerogers@birminghambrummies.co before 12 noon on Monday, July 16 and we’ll let them know all the details.”
