YOUNGSTER Sheldon Davies has been handed an extended spell in Birmingham’s National League side.

The 17-year-old made his third tier debut guesting for the Edwards Plumbing Brummies at Buxton on Sunday where he scored 7+1.

Now club bosses have decided to give him a run in the side at reserve, starting in next Wednesday’s home meeting with Mildenhall at Perry Barr (July 18, 7.30).

Team Manager Laurence Rogers said: “Sheldon’s someone I’ve known for a few years now through the training schools and things like that and Sunday was a fine example of the impressive strides he’s making in the sport.

“To come in at such short notice and score seven paid eight was unbelievable and he deserves a lot of credit.

“We just want him to come into the team, enjoy himself again with no pressure on him whatsoever and it’s a great chance to develop his experience.”
