BIRMINGHAM will shuffle their riding order ahead of Saturday’s tough National League trip to Eastbourne (7.30).

A change in the greensheet averages sees teenage reserve Leon Flint fly out of the reserve positions and into the main body of the team.

His new 9.90 average is bettered only by No.1 Tom Bacon who has added over a point-and-a-half onto his starting figure.

The changes see Layne Cupitt drop to reserve with Flint moving to No.4 and Callum Walker switched to No.2.

The Edwards Plumbing Brummies have won all five of their Travel Plus National League fixtures to date, but team boss Laurence Rogers knows this will be his side’s toughest test to date.

He said: “Eastbourne are a totally different side on their home track and they’ve already had some eye-catching results.

“We know it’s going to be our biggest ask so far but the boys are feeling good and they’re looking forward to the challenge.

“I’ve decided to partner Leon with Shanesy (James Shanes) because they’ve already shown how well they can team ride together and it gives us a lot of strength in that engine room of the team.

“I think it will help Callum being at No.2 as well and hopefully Layne can build some confidence from the reserve berths.

“Whatever happens on Saturday, we’re over the moon with how our season has begun – but we’d be even happier if we could get something at Arlington!”

EASTBOURNE: Georgie Wood, Jason Edwards, Mark Baseby, Charley Powell, Tom Brennan, Nick Laurence, Kelsey Dugard.

BIRMINGHAM: Tom Bacon, Callum Walker, James Shanes, Leon Flint, Danyon Hume, Arran Butcher, Layne Cupitt.
