SHOWMAN James Shanes makes his Birmingham debut at Perry Barr tonight (Wednesday, 7.30) – and co-promoter David Mason says fans are in for a treat.

The 21-year-old has signed as injury cover for Jack Parkinson-Blackburn and Mason is predicting a big night for his former team-mate against Buxton in the National Trophy.

“I’m sure he’s going to prove to be one hell of a signing,” Mason said.

“The Birmingham fans will have seen from his previous visits to Perry Barr that he always gives 110 per cent, he never gives up and he’s a real entertaining rider to watch – you can never take your eyes off him.

“He will fit into the group perfectly and I think he’ll settle in almost instantly.

“We know how vital it is to get a good win over Buxton tonight and keep the pressure on Cradley at the top of our group.”

In-form skipper Tom Bacon will be available for autographs and pictures between 6.30 and 6.50 in the lower main grandstand.

Junior supporters will also have the chance to meet their heroes on the centre green during the interval with a special tug of war competition against the Birmingham riders.

The main event will be followed by Midland Development League action between Milton Keynes and Belle Vue.

Admission is £13 adults, £12 concessions, £3 juniors (12-16) while kids 11 and under go FREE.
