FANS’ favourite Danyon Hume will make his long awaited comeback in Birmingham’s big opening derby with Coventry at Perry Barr tonight (Wednesday, March 28, 7.30).

The 21-year-old missed the majority of last season after suffering a broken arm in April.

But now he’s back to full fitness and was actually the first signing under new owners David and Peter Mason.

“It’s so good to be back with Birmingham,” Hume said.

“I was so gutted having to watch the meetings last year and not actually be riding in them, but Birmingham is a club close to my heart and I can’t thank David and Peter enough for putting me in their team.

“It’s been a long process but I was sensible and didn’t try and rush back too quickly.

“I’ve had a few spins now and I feel good so I can’t wait to get going properly now.

“Coventry have got some good riders, but I really like our team this year and there’s no reason why we can’t start off with a win.”

In a special promotion, under-16s will be admitted free of charge if accompanied by a paying adult or concession whose tickets have been reduced to just £10 for one night only.

BIRMINGHAM: Tom Bacon, Layne Cupitt, Mitchell Davey, Callum Walker, Danyon Hume, Arran Butcher, Leon Flint.

COVENTRY: Connor Mountain, Luke Ruddick, Jon Armstrong, Luke Harris, Danny Phillips, Ryan MacDonald, Jamie Halder.
