BIRMINGHAM have been boosted after securing a meeting sponsor for their season opener at home to Coventry next Wednesday (March 28, 7.30).

City Gearboxes (Coventry) LTD, who previously sponsored the National League, have jumped at the opportunity to back the first fixture under the new regime of Peter and David Mason.

Edwards Plumbing Brummies Team Manager Laurence Rogers said: "We thank Gary and Lorraine Drinkwater for their generosity and we look forward to seeing both of them and their guests at Perry Barr next week.

"In my time at Brandon, when I had connections with Coventry, they became good friends and great sponsors.

"They started off with a race sponsorship in the Midland Development League before becoming team sponsors of the Vikings, then Coventry Storm, and eventually National League main backers. "They are great backers of the sport and we're delighted to have them on board as meeting sponsors against the Bees."

A reminder that admission has been reduced to £10 for opening night while Under-16s will be admitted free of charge.
