Saturday March 10, 2018
ON Thursday (March 8), a special pre-season event took place in association with Birmingham Speedway Supporters' Club.

In attendance were Birmingham Edwards Plumbing Brummies Team Manager Laurence Rogers, 2018 racer Callum Walker, Commercial Manager Lee Kilby and Club Physio Steve Williams.

The talk-in was well attended with plenty of positive feedback being received from supporters.

Some of the main points to come from the event were as follows:

- There are still some issues regarding the signing of a seventh rider. The process is taking much longer than the club and rider anticipated but an update should be known within the next 7-14 days.

- Should any issues delay the signing further, the club have invited a number of 3.00 unattached riders to Press and Practice on March 21. Those who impress club bosses will be put in the frame to become the club's No.7 with an emphasis being placed on the early challenge and National Trophy fixtures.

- There are ongoing plans to introduce an additional stand on bends 1 and 2. If anyone knows of any company or business that would be interested in either a) sponsoring the stand or b) supplying materials for the stand, then they should contact the club as soon as possible.

- Lighting issues have been raised regarding the existing stands on bend 1. The club are currently working with staff at Perry Barr Stadium to improve this.

- After listening to feedback from supporters, the club continue to closely communicate with stadium landlords regarding food and drink prices. While talks regarding potential drinks offers are ongoing, the GRA have introduced an additional Speedway Food Menu which will run alongside the existing options. Sausage Baps and Bacon Rolls will now be available for £2, Sausage and Bacon Rolls for £2.50 and Curry and Chips for £3.50.

- The six riders signed so far are keen to engage with supporters on a regular basis and have vowed to use the stadium facilities after a meeting at Perry Barr.

- Racesuit sponsorships are still available and anyone interested should contact Lee Kilby.

- A number of supporter initiatives and packages will be introduced once the season is up and running and will be available at an affordable rate.

- The Bulls have added Rhys Naylor and Rachel Hellowell to their Midland Development League squad.

- Start line girls will be present at Perry Barr in 2018.

- More of an emphasis is being placed on making Speedway an entertaining night out and additional entertainment has been booked for some meetings.

- A volunteers day will still be running before the start of the season with painting and general maintenance work essential. Anyone interested should again contact Lee Kilby.
