BIRMINGHAM reserve Taylor Hampshire is looking forward to the experience of lining up in Cradley’s Golden Hammer event at Monmore Green tonight (Monday, 7.30).

The Hammer is traditionally one of the most prestigious individual meetings in British Speedway with a star studded roll of honour.

That list includes a number of former Birmingham representatives including Alan Grahame, Hans Nielsen, Simon Lambert, Kyle Newman and Adam Ellis.

This year’s line-up includes young British stars such as Dan Bewley, Ashley Morris, Max Clegg and Nathan Greaves as well as U.S National Champion Broc Nicol.

And with another strong field assembled, Hampshire is realistic about his expectations.

“I know I’m probably not going to win it but it will be a good experience and a nice way for me to end the season,” said Hampshire.

“There’s some good riders at the top end but there’s also some riders in there who I know I can beat.

“So if I could score some decent points and get a win or two under my belt that would be good.

“I’ve enjoyed this year since I joined Birmingham and hopefully I’ll see a few of their fans there cheering me on.”

LINE-UP: Joe Lawlor, Nathan Greaves, Conor Dwyer, Jason Edwards, Broc Nicol, Luke Harris, Chris Widman, Dan Bewley, Lee Dicken, Bradley Andrews, Ben Morley, Max Clegg, Ashley Morris, Taylor Hampshire, Connor Coles, Kean Dicken. James Chattin (Res.), Stephen Whitehouse (Res.).
