FORMER Birmingham title winner Jack Smith will now line-up alongside British sensation Dan Bewley for Belle Vue when they visit Perry Barr on Wednesday (7.30).

The duo were both set to miss the National League clash due to the Manchester club's Premiership commitments.

But when a poor weather forecast saw the plug pulled on the Aces' fixture at Poole, the pairing became available for the showdown against the Surestop Brummies.

"As soon as I heard Belle Vue's meeting at Poole had been called off early, I was straight on the 'phone to their club management to see if they could get Jack and Dan Bewley back into their line-up,"

Brummies boss Graham Drury explained.
"Some die-hard Birmingham fans may think it's a foolish move from our own point of view because some may argue that those two are an even stronger pairing than the guest duo of Mitchell Davey and Danny Ayres that they'd got lined up.

"But the majority of people will have been waiting for this fixture to come around for a while and they want to see the strongest teams possible.

"Dan Bewley is one of the brightest British prospects going and neutral speedway fans love watching him race while Jack Smith is a very popular lad at Perry Barr and still has many fans who continue to follow his progress.

"Therefore, it's only fair on the paying public that they get to see two heavyweights of the National League go head-to-head and for me it's even more of a mouthwatering contest than it was already going to be.

"While Belle Vue including Jack and Dan Bewley makes our task even harder, our boys are fired up for what is a huge fixture in terms of the play-off run-in and this is going to be a speedway meeting not to be missed."

A reminder that children who are accompanied by a fully paying adult will be admitted FREE for Birmingham Brummies home meetings during August.
