BIRMINGHAM have received a major boost ahead of tonight’s trip to Lakeside with the news that star reserve Taylor Hampshire has declared himself fit to race (8pm).

The 16-year-old crashed during Wednesday’s home win over the Isle of Wight and was withdrawn from the meeting with an eye injury.

While Hampshire received a black eye and swelling too, the pain has reduced and he is raring to go for tonight’s key clash against their rival play-off contenders.

The Hammers will be without former Brummies title winner Zach Wajtknecht who has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering spleen damage whilst on SGB Premiership duty with Swindon on Thursday.

Everyone at the Brummies would like to send Zach our very best wishes and we hope for a speedy recovery.

LAKESIDE: Paul Hurry, Nick Laurence, Ben Morley, Alfie Bowtell, Zach Wajtknecht R/R, Jamie Couzins, Connor Locke

BIRMINGHAM: Jack Parkinson-Blackburn, Layne Cupitt, David Mason, Tom Bacon, Liam Carr, Lewis Whitmore, Taylor Hampshire
