THREE Birmingham riders secured paid maximums as they stormed to a 61-29 victory at Buxton.

Tom Perry and Tom Bacon both went unbeaten by an opposition rider while 16-year-old reserve Jack Parkinson-Blackburn put in a sensational showing to score paid 21 from his full quota of seven rides.

However, Surestop Brummies duo Darryl Ritchings and Jack Smith didn't make the trip to the D&P Raceway due to illness, and club boss Graham Drury admits there is some slight concern ahead of Thursday's huge home play-off semi-final clash against Cradley.

Said Drury: "Darryl and Jack are suffering from really bad cases of influenza and upset stomachs and rang me within half-an-hour of each other to tell me there was no way they could race feeling how they were.

"I would like to place on record my thanks to youngsters Joe Lawlor and Stephen Whitehouse for committing at such late notice and their efforts were very much appreciated.

"With Zach (Wajtknecht) definitely out of Thursday's play-off and Humey (Danyon Hume) still highly unlikely to return as well, it is a concern that Darryl and Jack really sound like they're struggling as well.

"But there's nothing we can do on that one apart from play the waiting game.

"At Buxton, we put in another dominant showing and the confidence is certainly flowing.

"Luke Priest was a great guest and the two Toms were superb.

"As for Jack Parkinson-Blackburn, what a talent he is and what an ace in our pack he is!

"He really is so confident, especially around Buxton, and he is a joy to watch when he's in full flow like he was today.

"It's great those lads got some laps under their belts before the showdown with Cradley and we'll keep supporters updated with team news as and when we know more."
