DANYON Hume secured his first ever league maximum as he inspired Birmingham to a convincing 58-31 win over the Isle of Wight.

The Surestop Brummies wrapped up their regular National League home fixtures with another dominant display as they sealed a 13th straight victory.

Hume, in just his second season on the shale, was in blistering form for the Perry Barr outfit and was delighted with a faultless individual display.

Said Hume: "I'm over the moon and I think this will take a bit of time to sink in if I'm being honest.

"I've been working so hard all year and I've come so close to getting a full max but always just missed out.

"To finally get one feels great and I couldn't have timed it much better really.

"It was another big win for the team and we go into an important September full of confidence."

Hume showed plenty of speed as he stormed to his five wins from five rides and was deservedly awarded the Ductair Electrics Ltd Rider of the Night Award.

Birmingham skipper Tom Perry also registered a paid maximum after settling in behind Hume in heat 15 following four perfect programmed rides.

Guest No.1 Mitchell Davey picked up four paid wins too on another impressive showing at Perry Barr from the Coventry man.

Jack Smith struck paid double figures once again on another solid performance from the reserve.

Tom Bacon won his opening two races before crashing in his third, leaving him unable to take his fourth outing due to bike issues.

Darryl Ritchings endured an up and down night but bounced back from a blown engine to win heat 12.

Youngster Stephen Whitehouse enjoyed the National League experience once again after deputising for Jack Parkinson-Blackburn who pulled out of the meeting earlier in the day through illness.

The Brummies are back in action at Perry Barr next Wednesday when they go head-to-head with new found rivals Kent in the first leg of their Knockout Cup semi-final tie.

BIRMINGHAM 58: Danyon Hume 15, Tom Perry 14+1, Jack Smith 9+2, Mitchell Davey 8+4, Darryl Ritchings 6+1, Tom Bacon 6, Stephen Whitehouse 0.

ISLE OF WIGHT 31: Nathan Stoneman 10+1, Layne Cupitt 7, James Cockle 4+2, Lee Smart 3+1, Chris Widman 3, Kelsey Dugard 2+1, Mark Baseby 2.
