BRUMMIES 58 MILDENHALL 34

Wednesday August 29, 2007
BRUMMIES blasted back to form after their weekend disappointment by brushing Mildenhall aside at Perry Barr.

Skipper Jason Lyons carded a full 15-point maximum, and he was well backed by Henning Bager, who enjoyed his best night in Birmingham colours with paid 16.

The Fen Tigers were limited to just one heat winner as the Brummies dominated from start to finish, Tomas Suchanek being the visitors' only success in Heat 2.

But the visitors were not helped by a nasty incident in Heat 5 in which they lost two riders. Shaun Tacey and Tom P Madsen were quick from the start, but Tacey dropped a chain midway round the first and second bends, and he was unable to avoid crashing into his team-mate.

Madsen was taken to hospital with concussion and hip damage, whilst Tacey took one further ride before withdrawing due the after-effects of his spill.

That meant the only realistic resistance came from Suchanek, who took seven rides, and a hard-charging Lee Complin who was guesting for the injured Kyle Legault.

Complin was involved in two tremendous battles with Lyons, the Birmingham man coming out on top on both occasions - and Heat 12 was the race of the night as Lyons surged around the outside on the last bend to take the flag in front.

BIRMINGHAM: Henning Bager 15+1, Jason Lyons 15, Henrik Moller 10+1, Manuel Hauzinger 10, Ben Powell 6+1, Lee Smart 2+1, Emiliano Sanchez r/r.

MILDENHALL: Tomas Suchanek 11+2, Lee Complin 11, Jason King 6, Paul Fry 2+2, Karl Mason 2, Shaun Tacey 2, Tom P Madsen 0.
