COVENTRY 42 BRUMMIES 47

Friday July 17, 2015
BIRMINGHAM pulled off one of their biggest results of the season winning 47-42 at Coventry.

The Surestop Brummies pulled off another remarkable second half comeback after being six-points down with nine races gone.

The win ensured three more league points for the Perry Barr outfit who are now 17 clear at the top after winning all eleven of their league matches so far.

Team Manager Graham Drury said: "What another incredible turnaround and what another spectacular performance from our riders.

"Both sides had their bits of good fortune as well as bad luck - but this is speedway and that's the way it goes.

"We've shown remarkable character and determination once again and this is a massive step towards our end of season goal - but there's still a long way to go.

"Our supporters were brilliant and they completely out voiced the Coventry fans - what another great night for Birmingham speedway."

The Brummies were inspired by No.1 Adam Ellis who raced his way to a 15-point maximum; despite having to start one heat 15 metres back after touching the tapes.

Zach Wajtknecht was superb once again scoring paid 15 and re-claiming the National League Bronze Helmet from Dan Greenwood.

Sam Chapman stepped up to the plate as stand-in skipper once again and rounded off his night with two crucial heat wins.

Adam Kirby endured a very mixed night, but most importantly his points from reserve played a vital role in the outcome of the meeting.

Ben Basford and Alex Wilson both had tough nights, but their points also made the difference between the two sides come the end of the meeting.

The Brummies are next in action on Saturday July 25 at Rye House.
