BIRMINGHAM moved to the top of the National League table with a 52-39 victory against Buxton.

The Surestop Brummies raced to their sixth successive win, but not everything went the way of the home side on a dramatic evening at Perry Barr.

Brummies Team Manager Graham Drury was relieved his side added three more points to their league tally but admits he also has a few concerns.

"If I'm being totally honest, that scoreline flatters us tonight," he said.

"Buxton played a big part in an entertaining meeting and I feel for them to a certain extent because they deserved something from tonight's match.

"But we've done what we had to do and we'll enjoy another win for now but there's lots for us to work on still."

Zach Wajtknecht enjoyed another sublime performance in his last meeting at reserve with his fifth double-figure score on the spin and successfully defended his National League Bronze Helmet in a great match race with Hitmen skipper Tony Atkin.

Tom Perry and Adam Ellis picked up eight heat wins between them on another great night for the Brummies spearhead.

Alex Wilson had a mixed night, but was involved in two crucial 5-1's which sent the Brummies on their way to victory.

Adam Kirby endured a tough night, but a good ride in his third heat saw him snatch second place in a great heat of speedway.

Harvie Banks looked a lot quicker out of the tapes, but his lack of confidence was evident once again on another difficult night whilst No.8 Robert Parker picked up a third place in his first ever outing for the Brummies.

BIRMINGHAM 52: Zach Wajtknecht 16+1, Tom Perry 15+1, Adam Ellis 12, Alex Wilson 5+2, Adam Kirby 2, Robert Parker 1, Harvie Banks 1

BUXTON 39: Tony Atkin 11, Liam Carr 7, Tom Woolley 6+2, Adam Extance 6, David Holt 5+3, Paul Bowen 2, Ryan Blacklock 2.
